The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious event has wiped out most of humanity. The few survivors that remain must scavenge for resources and band together to survive in a hostile world filled with radiation, dangerous wildlife, and other players.

Players take on the role of one of these survivors, waking up on a beach with nothing but a rock and a torch. From there, they must quickly learn how to gather resources, craft items, and build shelters to protect themselves from the elements and other players.
